Influence Planning is headed by Paul Bateman, Principal Planning Consultant. A Technical Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and currently an elected member of its General Assembly, for 2011/12.
He has a proven record of success in representing private, residential and commercial development clients, public authorities and communities, in every aspect of the planning process.
Paul carries the respect of his colleagues in the private and public sector due to his excellent legislative and policy knowledge and his advocacy and negotiation skills are widely admired.
Paul has an established reputation amongst Cornwall’s landowner, development and commercial community including through his previous employment as a Truro based consultancy Director and his Local Government experience. He provides bespoke training in planning issues to associated professionals. Paul is also a member of the Country Landowners Association and Federation of Small Businesses.

In addition to advising on the potential of land and buildings for development, Paul also has extensive experience in representing clients in making planning applications and at appeals, where he has also represented developer, communities and local authorities including as both advocate and professional witness.

Dan Mitchell- Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI)
Dan has 24 years experience working within Cornwall as a Town Planner. In this time he has worked in all areas of Local Government Planning predominantly in Development Management but also within Policy and Enforcement Teams.
Since 2016 Dan has been the Planning Director at Influence Planning, helping Clients through the complexities of the planning system to achieve planning permissions for all types of development.
He has a very positive in my approach, knowledgeable is always available to communicate with Clients. Dan has helped Influence Planning maintain a strong record in achieving planning permissions for residential, commercial and tourism developments. Dan is available to discuss all planning matters including initial development opportunities, submitting planning appeals and understanding the changing policy regime at both national and local levels with the continuous stream of new Development Plan Documents in Cornwall including Neighbourhood Development Plans.
Dan works closely with other professionals including successfully project managing inter-disciplinary teams of consultants to ensure that the right people are in place at the right time to get the results necessary.
Whilst spending most of his time in Cornwall Dan also works on projects in Bristol, Somerset, Devon and with the access to modern technology can advise on planning matters all over the country.
